Aypupen Collection
The SENU Aypupen Pins draw inspiration from the ancient Armenian script letters developed around 405 CE by Mesrop Mashtots, an Armenian linguist and ecclesiastical leader. The collection of hand-crafted pins celebrate the “Aypupen” – the Armenian word for Alphabet – and are available in 32 of the 38 letters contained in classical Armenian orthography. Each upper-case letter is hand-drawn in Sheghakir (slanted/cursive script) by a master calligrapher who drew inspiration from the first scripture translated from Solomon's Book of Proverbs, which is said to be the first sentence to be written down in Armenian by Saint Mashtots: To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding. Book of Proverbs 1:2.
